Jinal Patel is an emerging visual artist based in Atlanta, Georgia, whose work bridges the gap between traditional painting and fiber arts. Following a career as a corporate Human Resources leader, Patel pivoted to her creative practice to explore a world beyond rigid structures and enforced labels.

Having grown up bilingual, Patel often found that traditional verbal communication fell short of capturing the depth of a fast-moving, sensory-rich world. Today, she uses her multi-medium approach—fusing the fluidity of acrylics and oils with heavy texture paste and the tactile precision of canvas embroidery—as a limitless sensory language. Her abstract works are visual labyrinths, built on the tension and harmony between expressive brushstrokes and the deliberate, grounding nature of thread.

Currently expanding her body of work and engaging with local initiatives like the Atlanta Beltline Public Art Artist Registry, Patel creates pieces that invite viewers to pause, shed their own labels, and find their own narrative within the layers of her work.

Artist Statement

My art is an invitation to pause. Working primarily with acrylics, and embroidery on canvas, I create abstract landscapes that are not meant to represent a specific place, but rather a specific state of mind.

I am driven by the desire to create a "safe space" within the canvas—a meditative ground where viewers can get lost in their own thoughts or memories. The process of stitching into the painted canvas is vital to my work; the embroidery adds a physical dimension of time and care, grounding the abstract forms in something tangible.

When people look at my art, I don't want them to just see colors and thread; I want them to feel a sense of release. I want my work to be the breath they didn't realize they were holding.
